The Aspergillus genus is species-rich, ubiquitous, and diverse and contains key cell factories for enzyme production. Genome sequencing of the members of this genus will provide a rich resource of information about model organisms, fermenters of foodstuffs, plant pathogens, and degraders of organic matter.
