Saccharomycodes ludwigii has long been described as a wine spoilage agent. However, more recent reports have acknowledged this microorganism, as well as other previously identified spoilage yeasts, as interesting due to its differential properties in synthesis of aroma compounds in fermented beverages. In this project, the genome sequence of Saccharomycodes ludwigii UTAD17 was obtained and subsequently annotated, this being the first genomic sequence that is rendered available for a strain of this species.
