MEKA for multi-label classifiaction
Instructor: Arwa Bin Raies, Postdoctoral Fellow, EMBL-EBI
MEKA is a java-based library that consists of many algorithms designed for multi-label classification tasks such as text classification and image tagging. The workshop will give an overview of multi-label classification and how to use the library for training and testing multi-label classification algorithms.
Computer setup:
Participants need to bring a laptop and download the library before the start of the workshop.
Introduction to interactive visualisation with D3 and ObservableHQ notebooks
Instructor: Gareth Peat, Web Developer, EMBL-EBI
Learn the basics of prototyping interactive visualisations using the D3.js library. This will be a hands on session using ObservableHQ interactive notebooks to render some bioinformatics data available through REST APIs.
Computer setup:
This tutorial will not require a laptop.
If you are wondering what your genome can say about you and how genome sequencing can improve healthcare, or if you have questions whether genome sequencing is an ethical way forward, book a tour of the Open Lab, the immersive experience highlighting the groundbreaking science happening on the Wellcome Genome Campus.
Based in the Ogilvie Building on the Wellcome Genome Campus, the Open Lab has been designed to provide a space for campus staff to share their work with the public. The space includes an immersive film experience, objects to help introduce DNA and genomics research, DNA sequencing machines (past and present) and a full set of books containing the entire human genome sequence! An important part of the experience is the opportunity to meet and chat with the people who work here.
What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Parking is available on the Wellcome Genome Campus free of charge.
If you opt for the transportation offered by the organisers, you’ll be directed to board a coach in Cambridge City Centre, which will drop you off at the event venue on the Wellcome Genome Campus and pick you up at the end of the day. Details regarding pick-up/drop-off locations will be disclosed to registrants only.
How can I contact the organiser with any questions?
If you have any questions regarding the event, please email Rodica Petrusevschi at rodica@ebi.ac.uk.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Printing your ticket is not necessary, but you must have a digital copy on hand to avoid any confusion. We will do our best to have the most up to date list of attendees on hand.
Can I update my registration information?
Yes
Is my ticket transferrable?
Yes, but you must notify the organisers of the change to ensure your replacement is provided a correct badge. To be compliant with Health & Safety regulations Campus Security requests that all campus guests are identified accurately.
