ChEBI Name ferrostatin-1
ChEBI ID CHEBI:173086
Definition An ethyl ester resulting from the formal condensation of the carboxy group of 3-amino-4-(cyclohexylamino)benzoic acid with ethanol. It is a potent inhibitor of ferroptosis, a distinct non-apoptotic form of cell death caused by lipid peroxidation. It is also a radical-trapping antioxidant and has the ability to reduce the accumulation of lipid peroxides and chain-carrying peroxyl radicals.

A role played by a substance that can react readily with, and thereby eliminate, radicals.
Bronsted base
A molecular entity capable of accepting a hydron from a donor (Bronsted acid).
(via organic amino compound )
Biological Role(s): ferroptosis inhibitor
Any substance that inhibits the process of ferroptosis (a type of programmed cell death dependent on iron and characterized by the accumulation of lipid peroxides) in organisms.
antifungal agent
An antimicrobial agent that destroys fungi by suppressing their ability to grow or reproduce.
Application(s): radiation protective agent
Any compound that is able to protect normal cells from the damage caused by radiation therapy.
neuroprotective agent
Any compound that can be used for the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders.
