Properties

Two PAR3 genes (PARD3A-B), three PAR6 (PARD6A,B,G) and two aPKC/PRKC (PRKCI and PRKCZ) genes have been identified in humans. Every PAR6 and PRKC can function as part of the PAR polarity complex, while PARD3B does not seem to interact with aPKC/PRKCs.
