A novel species of Methanococcales, strain HHB was isolated from a hydrothermal chimney sample collected from Cayman Ridge. The isolate was an anaerobic thermophilic methanogenic archea. To understand fully the metabolic potential and phylogenetic place of strain HHB, we performed whole genome analysis.
