We analyzed plastidial DNA to infer the biogeographic connections of dragon tree species in Macaronesia (Dracaena draco (L.)L. and D. tamaranae Marrero Rodr., R.S. Almeida & M. González-Martín) with East African and Arabian arborescent species of Dracaena, as well as its genetic diversity in Macaronesia. At interspecific level, we selected four plastid regions: matK, rbcL, rpl32-trnL(UAG), trnQ (UUG)-5´rps16; and at intraspecific level, we used three plastid regions: psbJ-petA, psbD-trnT (GGU), rpl32-trnL(UAG)
