From May 2010 to 2011, a large-scale outbreak of paratyphoid fever involving 609 cases was documented in Yuanjiang county, near Hongta district. In this study, we reported the risk factor analysis coupled with laboratory-based characterization of the outbreak, to analyze the source of outbreak and implementation of control measures.
