The green and black poison dart frog (Dendrobates auratus) is a brightly-colored member of the order Anura native to southern Central America and Colombia (from Wikipedia entry). This sample of a female juvenile individual, born to individuals aDenAur2 and aDenAur3, was derived from populations at the Costa Rican Amphibian Research Center in the Guayacan Rainforest and bred in the Burmeister Lab at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. It was procured by Sabrina Burmeister to generate transcriptome data for the aDenAur1 reference assembly for the Vertebrate Genomes Project (VGP). Sequencing and genome curation were conducted at the Vertebrate Genome Lab (VGL) at the Rockefeller University, led by Erich D. Jarvis, Giulio Formenti, and Jennifer Balacco. Sabrina Burmeister conducted genome assembly.
