Alternaria brassicicola is an imperfect asexual filamentous fungus that causes black spot disease (also known dark leaf spot) on cultivated Brassica species including broccoli, cabbage, canola, and mustard. The species can cause up to 60% of post harvest cole crop losses due to disease.
