To our knowledge, there is only one other report of a 2nd generation of clonal colony of fish (Oreochromis niloticus) by Müller-Belecke and Hörstgen-Schwark, who studied the survival rate, reproductive traits, and mean body weight of a 2nd generation clones of tilapia5. A clonal line of Japanese flounder was established for the first time in China. Because all individuals of the clonal line are females, it is impossible to produce 2nd generation clones by male and female mating.
