We sequenced and annotated the transcriptome of Amblema plicata to increase the genetic resources available for freshwater mussels (Bivalvia: Unionidae), one of the most endangered faunal groups in the world. Adult mussels were collected from Muskingum River in Ohio, USA and RNA was extracted from gill tissue.
