Microbulbifer sp. bacteria is known to degrade some complex polysaccharides. The machinery for its polysaccharide-degrading enzyme activity, likewise all bio-process activities can be found in its genome. Being culturable, it is simpler to re-grow the bacteria repeatedly in the laboratory for a comprehensive study. An attempt was made to sequence the whole genomic DNA of Microbulbifer sp. strain CR1 and process it subsequently, by performing genome assembly, gene-fetching and assigning genetic functions to the orfs or genes fetched. Generally, some of the polysaccharide-degrading enzymes coded by the Microbulbifer sp. genome are pullulanase, agarase, chitinase, xylanase and carragenase.
