Sepsis-associated encephalopathy is a common complication during systemic inflammation. Microglia are key player in this process. For a better understanding we compared hippocampal tissue following sepsis induction of microglia depleted and non-depleted mice. We show an overall reduction of inflammatory response in the hippocampus of microglia depleted animals. Overall design: 24 samples, 4 replicates in each group. 6 groups: 1) No PCI treatment (sham), normal diet (AIN), extraction after 3 days. 2) PCI treatment, normal diet (AIN), extraction after 3 days. 3) No PCI treatment (sham), normal diet (AIN), extraction after 10 days. 4) PCI treatment, normal diet (AIN), extraction after 10 days. 5) No PCI treatment (sham), PLX5622 diet (PLX), extraction after 10 days. 6) PCI treatment, PLX5622 diet (PLX), extraction after 10 days.
