Black sea bass, Centropristis striata, is a commercially important temperate fish that has expanded more than 300 km north from its historic northern range in the last decade. This chromosome scale genome assembly and annotation will serve as a resource to improve our understanding of the ecology and evolution of species undergoing range expansions in response to climate change.
