The Stenotrophomonas rhizophila BIGb262 strain originated in the lab of Hinrich Schulenburg, Kiel University Germany, and was gratefully received from Michael Herman from University of Nebraska. This strain lacks an APH(3') homolog capable of neomycin modification and neutralization, and was used as control for the APH(3')-expressing Stenotrophomonas indicatrix strain JUb19 in the Kim et al paper "Microbiome remodeling through bacterial competition and host behavior enables rapid adaptation to environmental toxins".
