Description Imported from IPR042104
This superfamily represents the dehydratase (DH) domain found in polyketide synthases, which are in fact megasynthases comprised of different modules. Each module is composed of several enzymes which together act a ketide unit to the growing polyketide chain. DH is involved in the generation, through an elimination reaction, a double bond in this process
[1]. The structure of the DH domain is described as a hotdog fold with the α-helices representing the sausages and the β-sheet representing the bun.
