Description

TFIIH basal transcription factor complex helicase XPB subunit (also known as DNA excision repair protein ERCC-3 or TFIIH 89 kDa subunit) is the ATP-dependent 3'-5' DNA helicase component of the core-TFIIH basal transcription factor, involved in nucleotide excision repair (NER) of DNA and, when complexed to CAK, in RNA transcription by RNA polymerase II. XPB is a member of the DEAD-like helicase superfamily, a diverse family of proteins involved in ATP-dependent RNA or DNA unwinding. This domain contains the ATP-binding region.
