photosystem II cytochrome c-550

NCBIfam entry
Member databaseNCBIfam (includes TIGRFAMs)
NCBIfam typefamily
Short namePS_II_C550

Description

Members of this protein family are cytochrome c-550, the PsbV extrinsic protein of photosystem II, from both Cyanobacteria and chloroplasts. A paralog to this protein, PsbV2, is found in some species in addition to PsbV itself. This low-potential cytochrome c, along with PsbO, PsbP, PsbQ, and PsbU, make up the oxygen-evolving complex of photosystem II.
