adipose tissue
Connective tissue in which fat is stored. All adipose tissue in the zebrafish is white adipose tissue and is comprised of adipocytes, stroma, macrophages and vasculature. Mature adipocytes express adipokines, such as adipsin, adiponectin, and leptin so white adipose tissue is considered an endocrine organ. The connective tissue is loose and infiltrated by a vascular network.
