Investigating a genomic region
You can search with a location (see ‘How to search Ensembl‘ for more information) using the search box on the Ensembl homepage to access the location tab directly. Alternatively, a gene search will also display a link to the location, shown as coordinates (Figure 20).
You can also click through the the location tab when in another tab in the browser.
The location tab allows exploration of a genomic region. We will investigate:
- The region in detail view, allowing visualisation of hundreds of data tracks along the genome
- Genes in a region
- How to access a view of a whole chromosome
