Welcome to the EBI Web Guidelines
Here you will find how to build EBI webpages, how to monitor them and how to make them searchable. Our guiding principle, in creating these specifications, is to enable the users of the EBI website – new and experienced – to find the information that they want. Our users should not need to invest time learning about EMBL-EBI as an organisation, or about the technology behind our databases, to perform powerful searches and return data that is meaningful to them. Our challenge is also to create a consistent experience as users move between services, reflecting the extensive coordination in the underlying data resources. In addition, the purpose of these specifications is to give the users of EBI services an intuitive and enjoyable user experience without eroding the strong brand identities of individual services.
