Summary for family S75

Family type peptidaseS75.001 - White bream virus serine peptidase (White bream virus), MEROPS Accession MER0187113 (peptidase unit: 3449-3709)
Content of familyPeptidase family S75 contains endopeptidases.
History Identifier created: MEROPS 9.4 (31 January 2011)
White bream bafinivirus is a bacilliform plus-strand RNA virus isolated from fish. The genome encodes a large non-structural polyprotein which is processed by a peptidase included in the polyprotein (Schutze et al., 2006).
Catalytic typeSerine
Active site residuesH3492 D3518 S3589
Active siteActive site residues are predicted to be His3492, Asp3518 and Ser3589; substitution of Ser3589 leads to loss of processing activity (Schutze et al., 2006).
Activities and specificitiesThe peptidase was shown to cleave several sites in the polyprotein, with cleavage at Gln(Ala/Thr) (Ulferts et al., 2011).
Molecular structureNo tertiary structure has been solved. Family S75 is included in clan PA subclan PA(S) because peptidases from closely related viruses are known to be structural homologues of trypsin and because of the conservation of a motif around the catalytic Ser (Schutze et al., 2006).
