meiotic cell cycle
Progression through the phases of the meiotic cell cycle, in which canonically a cell replicates to produce four offspring with half the chromosomal content of the progenitor cell via two nuclear divisions.
Note that this term should not be confused with 'meiotic nuclear division ; meiotic nuclear division'. 'meiotic cell cycle ; meiotic cell cycle represents the entire mitotic cell cycle, while 'meiotic nuclear division meiotic nuclear division' specifically represents the actual nuclear division step of the mitotic cell cycle.
